What is Parsha Party?

When Shabbos rolls around each weekend, children (and adults!) are excited to take a rest from the hullabaloo of the week and a break from all their hard work. Yet there is one thing that makes Shabbos extra exciting for all. Everybody knows that Shabbos isn't the same without the mouthwatering sweets that have come to be known worldwide as Shabbos party. The candy aisle in the store each Friday is packed with mothers, fathers, and kids trying to choose that perfect Shabbos treat. Why not add some meaning to the sweets and connect them to the Parsha?

That is where we come in. Welcome aboard the world of Parsha Party. Taking the Shabbos Party to a new level. We take points from the Parsha and connect them to ideas you can buy, create, or spin off with your own ideas to enhance your Shabbos sweets. Some weeks there will be plenty of ideas while others we only came up with a few. You are welcome to share your own ideas too!

For the sake of your children's teeth and their health, we do not advise choosing all the Parsha Party suggestions. The list is created to be used as a springboard to help you choose at least one treat to connect to the Parsha.

*A note of apology to all the health-nuts out there: While we will throw in some healthy ideas here and there, we will mostly be sharing ideas for the seasoned Shabbos nosher. If you would like to add a page for healthy treats, feel free to send in your ideas and we will consider adding.

How It Works

We will post a suggestion or idea list for each weekly Parsha to be used as a springboard for you to choose your Shabbos Party selection. You can buy the items listed at your local store or online, get something similar that fits with the theme, create your own Parsha creations and of course share some of your own ideas in the comments section.

Feel free to comment on your favorite Parsha Party ideas or let us all know which ones you choose for the week.

For younger children, you can take each item and explain to them the connection to the Parsha.

For older children, it's more exciting to let them guess the connections or come up with their own. We also like to have the kids come up with other ideas that we "could have" used for Parsha Party.
