In Sefer Devarim – also called Mishna Torah - Moshe Rabeinu recounts what happened in the Torah from the previous Sefarim for the generation that is about to enter the land of Eretz Yisrael and gives them many new Mitzvos as well. His Speech takes place for thirty six days straight - right before he passes away.
Eikev
The word Eikev means “because”. Because you will keep the Mitzvos of Hashem, you will be blessed. Eikev also means a heel – if you will keep the easy mitzvos that people often trample on with their heels then Hashem will keep His promise to you and bless you (Rashi).
Moshe continues to speak to the Jewish people at the end of his life.
Keep the Mitzvos and you will see so much good
He promises them that if they keep the Mitzvos then Hashem will love them and make them multiply and make them prosperous in the land that Hashem promised them. They will not have Akaraos – barren couples and Hashem will remove all sicknesses and send them to their enemies instead.
You will succeed in conquering the land easily
They will be successful conquering and settling in Eretz Yisrael as Hashem promised the way He helped them with many miracles before. Hashem will send the Tzirah – a flying insect- to poison and blind the Canaanim to get rid of them from the land and the people should not be afraid. Hashem will deliver their enemies into their hands. But they must destroy the Avodah Zara of the land.
Moshe reminds them about their tests in the Midbar
They were in the Midbar for 40 years where Hashem tested them and they survived on the Mann, in order to teach them that man doesn’t live by bread alone but by whatever comes forth from the mouth of Hashem.
Their clothing didn’t wear out in the Midbar (Rashi says the clouds rubbed and washed them) and their feet did not swell.
They are coming to a wonderful land
Moshe tells them that the land that they are about to enter if they keep the mitzvos is blessed with the Shivas Haminim – 7 special fruits of the land (wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives / olive oil, and dates).
They will lack nothing. Have plenty of bread and be satiated. (Veachalta Vesavata Uverachta….).
The people are warned again
Be careful!!! Do not forget Hashem! When you have all your wealth food and houses etc and you think you are so great and forget that Hashem brought you out of Mitzrayim though the Midbar that was full of snakes and scorpions and gave you Mann and water from a rock…. But you will say Kochi Ve’otzem Yadi – it was all our strength. But you must remember that really it is all from Hashem. And if you don’t and you serve idols you will be destroyed and perish like the other nations.
Remember what happened in the Midbar
Moshe reminds them and rebukes them for the sins they did in the Midbar with the Egel Hazahav – Golden calf, the rebellion with Korach, the Meraglim, angering Hashem at Taveira, Massah, and Kivros Hataava. They rebelled many times against Hashem. But Hashem is forgiving and gave them a seconds set of luchos after they did Teshuva.
Hashem loves the orphans widows and Geirim
Hashem is mighty and executes judgement for the orphan and widow and loves Geirim – converts and loves to give them clothing and bread. He commands you to love the Geirim and remember that you were a Ger/ stranger in the land of Mitzrayim.
The second Paragraph of Shema
The pesukim continue with Shema: VeHaya Im Shamoa…. It repeats the fundamental Mitzvos mentioned in the first paragraph of Shema and that it will rain if you keep the Mitzvos but if not, you will not have rain and will be kicked out of the land.
And again – if you keep the Mitzvos you will be able to drive out the enemies from the land and inherit wherever you go in the land.

THE PARSHA PARTY ANSWER LIST!
Fruit by the foot – Eikev can mean a heel of a foot – if you keep the Mitzvos that are easy that many people trample with their heel like they aren’t important, then Hashem will love you and do good for you
Oodles – Hashem took you from a few and made you so many. Also if you keep the mitzvos you will multiply tons
Dollar Candy – Keep the mitzvos in the land and you will become prosperous and rich. But don’t think you caused the wealth with Kochi VeOtzem Yadi
Mazel Tov Candies – If you keep the mitzvos in the land then you will have children and not have Akaros that cant have kids
Honey Cookies/Candy – The land is flowing with milk and honey
Sunflower seeds – The Mann was a type of seed – they had to survive on it in the midbar to remember that bread isn’t what satiates them but whatever Hashem desires is.
Gold candies – reminder of the Egel HaZahav
Dr Pepper/ Dr Pepper jelly belly – All sicknesses will be healed
Cotton candy – The clouds washed the clothing in Mitzrayim and they didn’t get worn out
Braided marzipan/ pretzel twists/ Marshmallow twists – Bread is not what sustains, but whatever Hashem says is what will sustain them
Grape Flavor candies – Grapes are one of the Shivas Haminim found in Eretz Yisrael
Pomegranate Flavor Candies – Pomegranates are one of the Shivas Haminim found in Eretz Yisrael
Candy fruit / Fruity Candies/ Dried fruit (many must be checked for bugs – especially figs and dates) – The Shivas HaMinim
Meat Boards – It warns strongly in the Pesukim that if you indulge in wealth and food and riches and houses and forget Hashem and become haughty then he will destroy you like the other nations
Hand shaped candies – The 2nd paragraph of Shema has the tefillin wrapped around your hand. Also The people say Kochi VeOtzem Yadi – it is our strong hand that did it… not Hashem.
Rainballs - If you keep the mitzvos there will be rain and if not there won’t.
