Behar

Hashem Speaks to Moshe from “The Mountain” referring to Har Sinai.

He tells him that when they come to the Land of Eretz Yisrael they need to keep a year of “Shabbos for Hashem” – the year of Shemitta which is every 7th year.

For 6 years work the land and on the 7th – No work. Don’t reap the harvest. Don’t pick the grapes. However you can eat from the produce, just not as an owner. It’s free for all to eat including the animals.

After 7 rounds of Shemitta, you blow the shofar on Yom Kippur to announce the 50th year as the year of Yovel – another year of leaving the land at rest.

During Yovel all property gets returned to its original owner and slaves are returned to their families.

Lo Sonu Ish Es Amiso – you should not wrong a fellow Jew – fear Hashem who knows your thoughts and intentions especially while giving advice. This includes not insulting someone.

If you keep the mitzvos then Hashem will bring fruitfulness and you will live securely.

If one is worries about what he will have to eat during Shemitta, Hashem promises that He will bring an abundance of produce in the 6th year before Shemitta that will be enough for the 6th year, the 7th year, and the 8th year.

One is not allowed to sell land permanently in Eretz Yisrael.

If one became poor and had to sell his land in order to help himself then he is allowed to have the land redeemed and bought back either by a relative or himself. If he can’t afford it and finds nobody to redeem it back for him, then it goes back to him automatically along with the Yovel year.

There are different laws regarding the selling of property in walled cities and in open cities and cities of Leviim.

If someone becomes poor, whether it’s a relative, a Ger, or someone dwelling in the land, you must support him and make sure he doesn’t get crushed under his burden.

Do not charge Ribbis – interest when he pays you back. (The pasuk uses the words Neshech and Ribbis because it is very serious and if a person does these he gets a double transgression – Rashi).

Don’t take your brother as a slave if he becomes poor. Instead, hire him to work as regular respected worker for you. Take care of him and his family and set them free by Yovel. Be careful not to give him demeaning and back breaking work.

If you need a slave you can take one from the nations around you.

If your relative is sold to a Ger Toshav (non-Jew that lives in the land) or to an idol, you must redeem him right away.

Do not make an idol, statue, or monument to bow down to as Avodah Zara. Keep Shabbos and Fear Hashem.

THE PARSHA PARTY ANSWER LIST!

Fruit roll ups Fruit Nuggets Fruit Bites etc – If you keep shemitta the land will be fruitful and so much food enough for 3 years. Also if you keep the Torah and Mitzvos your fields will produce so much fruit.

Juicy Strawberry candy straws – You will produce so much fruit if you keep the mitzvos

Twozies – Ribbis is a serious Avera and the Torah uses two words to describe it and a person transgresses two Averos if he does charge Ribbis

Pull and Peel – In shemitta and Yovel you cant harvest and pull and peel your crops

Grape Sippies or oodles – You cannot harvest your vineyards

Fruity Peak – Be”Har” (A peak is a mountain)

Choco NoNos – If you do not listen to the Mitzvos then there are many curses in the Parsha

Candy Brix – Walled cities and not walled cities have different rules of redemption and Yovel

Dollar Candy, Money Rolls, Chocolate coins – Ribbis, Tzedaka for someone that becomes poor, you will be rich if you keep the Mitzvos

Zillions – You will be fruitful and multiply is one of the brachos for keeping the mitzvos

Candy or Cookie packs of 7 – Shemitta is every 7 years when we do not work the land

Candy Pack of 50 – On the 50th year is Yovel and we also don’t work the land and all properties and slaves return to their families

Candy Spinner – The land goes back to the owner it started with in YOvel

Windmill Candy – If you have to help your brother by having him work for you don’t give him slave labor (like a windmill does the hard milling work – instead hire him to do decent work)

Bundt Cake (looks like a mountain) – BeHar means on a mountain

There are definitely more great ideas.... let's get some more please!!!
